Ebara Obtain 100 Million Yuan Centrifugal Chiller Order For Nuclear Power Plant as a Gift for Centennial of Turkey

Recently, ERSC received good news in the overseas market. Ebara won the bid to build the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant in the Republic of Turkey for 32 Centrifugal Chiller units, with a contract value of nearly RMB 100 million, once again breaking the existing record for centrifugal chiller super orders.

Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is located in Mersin Province in the south of the Republic of Turkey, bordering the Mediterranean Sea, with a total installed capacity of 4,800MW and four reactors. It uses the most advanced and safest 3+ generation VVER-1200 nuclear power technology in the world. With a total investment of US $20 billion, Akkuyu nuclear power plant will be able to meet about 10% of Turkey's electricity demand after being fully put into operation.

Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant is Turkey's first nuclear power plant, which is of great significance to Turkey's national energy security. It is a national landmark and strategic project of Turkey. At the request of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Unit One will be launched and put into operation in 2023 to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of Turkey.

The total designed cooling capacity of the project is 128MW, and 32 special centrifugal chillers are used to provide chilled water for the safe operation of nuclear power plant. All centrifugal chillers use seawater as circulating cooling water, which requires a series of technical indexes such as safety, reliability, stability, seismic grade and economy. After several rounds of bidding and joint demonstration by the designer, the contract-issuing party, the owner and the contractor, relying on its century old profound heritage and leading global advanced technology, Ebara Nuclear Power Special Centrifugal Chillers finally stood out from many bidders and won the first place. ERSC became the only supplier of centrifugal chillers in this project.
